History
Common Ground started in April 1994 as a monthly interdenominational gathering, for youth, by youth, with a focus on the basics--God's Word, fellowship, worship, prayer--and a vision to bring the body of Christ together in unity and love, but even more central to its purpose was bringing Christians into a deeper relationship with Christ. This ministry has always been about building relationships.
Then, the focus of Common Ground shifted to being a music ministry that sought to cooperate with and contribute to churches, ministries and endeavors that shared a vision for unity in the Body of Christ.
In the years between 1995 and 1999, Common Ground Praise Band ministered to many churches, youth groups, and youth rallies, for people of various backgrounds such as Assembly of God, Roman Catholic, Baptist and Calvary Chapel.
In the Summer of 1999, Common Ground disbanded indefinitely but, after some time, realized how much they really missed working together. So they decided to record a demo, just for fun, to give to family and friends. So, after a year-long hiatus, they reunited in May 2000 to work on a studio project.
From day one, it was evident that God had his hand on the project. The process took on a life of its own as God opened door after door. They were soon convinced that God still had plans for Common Ground Praise Band.
In November 2000, Common Ground Praise Band recorded a nine song demo at Moonsong Studio in Riverside, California and in April 2001, the finished product, "All About You," went on sale.
In the time following, the band ministered at The Rock Church and World Outreach Center in Loma Linda, CA, as well as longtime supporter Calvary Community Church in Beaumont, CA. But, while gearing up for a more intense ministry schedule, it once again became evident that the pressures of busy lives and schedules would not allow for what was in their hearts to do.
On August 12, 2001, the members of Common Ground got together for a time of fellowship and discussion. The result was an agreement to pursue a time of personal, musical and ministry redevelopment. The band will use the time to write original music and to develop a creative and compelling ministry. Pray for them and their families as they serve the Lord in their respective churches, schools and workplaces and seek Him for fresh vision.
